A FASCINATING INSIGHT INTO NEW ZEALAND'S EARLY HISTORY
The Goldfields Mining Centre is located at the outskirts of Cromwell at the start of the Kawarau Gorge. From Cromwell, head toward Queenstown on State Highway 6, past the various fruit stalls and, as you enter the gorge, Goldfields is on your left hand side. Entry from the car park to the centre is by way of a footbridge across the Kawarau River.
From Queenstown, head toward Cromwell. Goldfields is about a 50 minute drive from Queenstown on the main road to Cromwell. Prior to reaching Goldfields you will pass the Roaring Meg power station. The Mining Centre is about 5 minutes drive from here - on the right hand side of the road.
Goldfields is on the main road from Christchurch and Mount Cook heading to Queenstown. It is also on the main road from Dunedin via Alexandra and Clyde, to Queenstown.
